Hermés "Hors les murs" : this is true Luxury!

If in Paris this week you have still a couple of days to attend the event "Hermés Hors les murs" (Hermés off-site).

For a week, some Hermés' craftmen left their workshop to share with us their unique know-how :

How they set thousands of diamonds on a gold horse head (that takes him up to 3 weeks!) How they print a pattern for one of their famous silk scarves... How they sew a tie... How they make a bespoke leather paddle... How they put together one of these so beautiful Hermés watches.. How they craft a leather glove...

FASCINATING!

During the visit, we, visitors, have a real fascination and admiration for these "artists" sharing their know-how with us. We also feel that Hermés gets closer to us : coming  in that huge Carreau du Temple, in trendy North Marais, is certainly less intimidating than pushing the door of the prestigious store in rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré, just to have a look (and buy if you are lucky enough to afford it). I think that we all also better understand why their products are so expensive given the time spend and skills required for the crafting of all these goods.  On the other side we can also feel the pride of these craftmen who are given the opportunity to show what they usually do within the walls of their workshops out of passion.

One also gets aware, that, unlike most luxury brands, Hermés can claim to produce its bags, scarves, jewels in France. So does Longchamp, which workshops I visited as I was organizing for them their press tours. It is truly an amazing experience to actually see the whole production process.

This is true luxury!
