What's up in Paris for Spring?
After a snowy winter in Paris it is time to dream about Spring time, officially starting in a few weeks! Here is a selection of 10 ways to celebrate Spring time in Paris!
1) The famous French chocolate diet!
This year Easter will be taking place on April 1st, the official "joke day" in France with fake news, traditional paper fishes secretly stuck on your back! So the best way to celebrate Easter on April 1st is for sure to savour a delicious chocolate fish like the one designed by Alain Ducasse chocolate, for sure a future best-seller! Every year, the most famous art galleries from all over the world are showing their best pieces under the nave of Grand Palais. Paris Art Fair is a unique way to have a good overview of the contemporary art scene, from paintings to videos and photos. An ephemeral museum for 4 days only and definitely the most exciting Parisian arty event in Spring!
3) Feeling pretty with fashion exhibitions in Paris
The mysterious fashion designer Martin Margiela is starring in Paris with 2 exhibitions dedicated to his work. The first one is taking place in the fashion temple, Palais Galliera, the beautiful Paris fashion museum. Starting on March 3rd, it will focus on the decade 1989-2009 as Musée des arts décoratifs will present his collaboration with Hermès from March 22nd. Another way to discover a famous French designer is to visit the beautiful private mansion of Azzedine Alaïa rue de la verrerie, in the heart of le Marais. This mythic dresses maker died suddenly a few months ago and this retrospective pays tribute to his incredible talent. A last option is to visit the new fashion museum, La cité de la mode et du design, and admire the work of the fashion photographer Peter Knapp and his dancing and smiling models, so fresh!
4) Spring time, the season of love!
Spring is back and love is in the air and which love story is as universel as Romeo and Juliet? Opera de Paris is presenting a poignant version of the the famous lovers story through the choreography of Sasha Waltz set to the romantic symphony of Berlioz, unique!
5) Fly away in the Parisian sky
Spring is also the best period to stroll in a public garden and enjoy the return of green power! One of the most original activities that you could do in Paris is to climb on board of a hot-air balloon to admire the city from above... Nearby the Eiffel Tower, Parc André Citroën has the biggest hot air balloon in the world, Ballon de Pariswhich can takes groups of people up 150 meters into the sky. The balloon changes color to reflect the quality of the air! Closed during winter time, Ballon de Paris is open from March 24th, a fun way to discover Paris!
6) An outdoor lunch on a rooftop
For an upscale lunch time experience, opposite the Eiffel Tower, under the Parisian sky... Maison Blanche restaurant is quite the perfect spot with its amazing wood terrace just across the river, close your eyes and open it, the Big Lady is smiling at you :-) And if you want to see the Eiffel Tower from another perspective, the rooftop of Terass'Hotelin Montmartre is terrific too, more casual but the feeling is the same... it's so unique to dine facing this amazing view! Hotel Raphael is also an amazing place for a romantic drink or a meal on this beautiful rooftop, have a few champagne bubbles with a sparking lit up Eiffel Tower, total bliss!
7) Ghosts and hells: a scaring spring time in Paris
On the shadow Eiffel Tower, Musée du Quai Branly will be presenting from April 10th a great exhibition about Asian ghost and devil mythology. From spirits that wander the forest to jumping vampires and Japanese yokaïs, the figure of the ghost has haunted the Asian imagination for centuries. This major exhibition will come with animations, kids activities, films screenings ect.
8) A day out and a horse show at la Villette
Coming to Paris for a family spring break in Paris? Don't miss Parc de la Villette located in the North of the city, the best kids activity hotspot in Paris. You can easily spend the all day there, starting with an electric boat ride on bassin de la Villette before a fun moment in the unique activity playground la cité des enfants, slide on a dragon tongue and jump, jump, jump! And La Villette is also a great place to see a show, don't miss Equestrian Academy of Versailles who will be presenting their last creation from May 15th to May 20th.

One of the cutest museum in Paris is located behind Sacré Cœur, in a charming street of Montmartre, it is just like being in the French countryside, so peaceful! Musée de Montmartre is made of historical houses surrounded by garden and numerous famous artists used to work there: Auguste Renoir, Émile Bernard, Raoul Dufy, Charles Camoin, Suzanne Valadon and Maurice Utrillo... An inspiring residence with a lovely tea house in the garden.
10) Petanque training: be ready for summer!
French summer is ruled by very strict laws: drink only light rosé with ice, wear a panama hat and white linen trousers, and practice your pétanque in a cool but professional way like if you were born in Provence...
